HERE AND THERE

Porcelain, Speakers, Electronics
Here and There is an outdoor sound installation that features multiple, handmade, tuned porcelain bowls that are sonically activated and suspended from trees to create a spatialized listening experience. The sound of each bowl being struck was initially recorded in a controlled studio environment before being transformed and edited onsite to situate the composition within the larger outdoor soundscape.
At the site, each of the porcelain bowls was attached to a transducer that turned it into a kind of speaker, effectively returning the transformed/recorded sound of each object back to the individual bowl from which it originated. In this way, each sounding object maintains a distinctly embodied, visual presence, while the total work situates an unfolding studio composition into a worldly, natural setting.
